Fitting Fundamentals Course
$297.00
This course offers you what I wish I had access to in the beginning of my career: a fitting methodology and fitting principles that can be used to fit any figure wearing any type of garment.
One of the things I love about my Signature Fitting Method is that I don’t feel overwhelmed. I know what to do first. And then I can rely on the fitting principles to guide me through the process.
This course centers on fitting a simple garment. After all, if you’re learning to bake cakes, you don’t start with a multi-tiered wedding cake. You start with the basics, which allow you to be successful and learn the principles—in the case of garment fitting, a skirt. If your reaction is “I don’t wear skirts!”, remember that this is the best garment to learn fitting skills. This course provides the foundation you need so you can move on to fit all sorts of garment types on any figure.
I’m very happy to offer you Fitting Fundamentals, so rather than using a “trial by error” approach, you’re in control of your fittings from the very start.
Five streamable videos, each approximately 50 minutes in length
Time-stamped indexes of key topics and concepts, for easy referencing
Life-time access
Free access to my "All About Horizontal Balance Lines" Master Class!
My tried and true fitting methodology through all stages of the muslin making and fitting process — all the way from taking control of your initial pattern, to cutting out and marking a mockup, to every stage of fitting first and second mockups, and making style and design choices as you do so.
The full process of first and second mockup fittings on three different individuals. At each stage along the way, you’ll get to listen to my thought process as I look at and assess the mockup. And you’ll be able to see how my hands are moving in real time as I manipulate the muslin.
Demonstration of key fitting skills, including:
How to assess for appropriate wearing ease
How to adjust sides seams and resolve pinning at the side seams
How to level the HBLs
How to make notations on your muslin
How to assess dart intakes and drape darts in
How to mark the waist seam
And much, much more!
Discussion and demonstration of making fitting choices that are also style and design changes, and developing an eye for pleasing visual proportion. I experiment with single darts, double darts, pleats, gathers, and more! I show you how I track multiple style options on the same muslin, and how to keep this straight in your patterns for ease and clarity.
This course wouldn’t be complete without my thorough coverage of key patternmaking skills, including:
How to transfer pinning changes from the muslin to the pattern
How to mark and blend new darts and seams
How to use different types of rulers
How to form dart legs and dart extensions
And more!
